Crypto has no shortage of people telling you what they are buying and why they believe in it. Those interviews get clipped, the posts go viral, and the price targets spread quickly across social media. When the person making the call has a huge audience, plenty of viewers pay attention and sometimes follow their lead.
But what you are hearing is usually only part of the strategy.
You may know why they bought, why they are still holding, and where they think the price could go next. What you may not know is what would make them sell, reduce their position, change course, or rethink the investment altogether.
The Loudest Voices Usually Talk About the Buy
Big names make big statements about crypto, and those statements travel fast. But a public quote rarely tells you the entire strategy behind it.
Michael Saylor has been one of Bitcoin’s most vocal supporters. In February 2026, he said, “We’re not going to be selling. We’re going to be buying bitcoin. I expect we’ll be buying bitcoin every quarter forever.”
Four months later, Strategy’s board authorized a program allowing the company to sell bitcoin to generate up to $1.25 billion for its U.S. dollar reserve, along with additional sales for certain specified corporate purposes. Saylor later explained the distinction between his personal holdings and the company directly: “When I say ‘Never Sell Your Bitcoin,’ I speak as one saver to another. I have never sold mine. Not one satoshi. Strategy is a public company, not my wallet.” (Strategy) (Saylor on X)
Elon Musk offers another example. In 2021, he said, “I might pump, but I don’t dump.” (CNBC) A year later, Tesla disclosed that it had converted approximately 75% of its bitcoin holdings into fiat currency. Musk said the decision was made to maximize the company’s cash position amid uncertainty surrounding COVID-related shutdowns in China and should not be interpreted as a verdict on Bitcoin. (CNBC)
Kevin O’Leary offers another example of how a crypto strategy can evolve over time. In 2025, O’Leary said Bitcoin and Ethereum were his two largest crypto positions, together representing roughly 90% of his digital asset holdings. He called the two assets the “true gold standards of crypto.” (Kevin O’Leary on LinkedIn)
By January 2026, O’Leary said he had reduced what had once been 27 crypto positions to a much more focused approach centered on Bitcoin and Ethereum. (CoinDesk)
O’Leary remained invested in crypto, but the way he approached it had changed. His portfolio became more concentrated as his strategy and view of the market evolved.
None of this means anyone was being dishonest. It shows why following someone else’s public conviction can be complicated. Their entry price, time horizon, liquidity needs, portfolio, and reasons for owning crypto may look nothing like yours.
The quote travels. The strategy usually does not.
Those examples all point to the same problem. Following someone else’s conviction can feel easy until the market changes.
You may know they are bullish. You may know they are holding. But you probably do not know every condition that would make them act differently.
When your own money is moving, their strategy cannot make the decision for you.
You still need a process of your own.
You Don’t Have to Invest Around the Headlines
For a long time, following the market meant keeping up with the news, watching price movements, and listening to what well-known investors and analysts had to say. But trying to keep up with all of it can be exhausting, and it still leaves you relying on someone else’s outlook. Their goals, timing, and reasons for making a move may be completely different from yours.
Today, there are more tools available. Technology, AI, and data analytics are giving everyday investors new ways to approach the market.
With these tools, you do not have to build every decision around the latest headline, a new price prediction, or what a famous investor just said. Instead, data and predefined rules can help create a more consistent process for responding as market conditions change.
The challenge is that many of these tools are still highly technical, complicated to set up, or require a deeper understanding of quantitative data.
iTrustCapital saw an opportunity to make that approach more accessible by bringing automated quantitative strategies directly into the client experience.
Meet Q: AI-Formulated Quantitative Trading Strategies
Q is iTrustCapital’s suite of AI-formulated quantitative trading strategies designed to help grow your crypto portfolio over time. You choose the strategy you want to use, and once activated, it can automatically buy or sell crypto when its predefined rules and market signals are met.
The goal is to give investors a more rules-based way to respond to changing crypto markets without having to make every decision in the moment.
Let’s look at what that can mean over a full four-year period
If you activate Q’s Quantum Strategy (BTC, XRP, ETH, SOL, LINK) and start with a hypothetical $10,000 investment, here's how its strategy compares with simply buying and holding from September 15, 2022, through September 15, 2026.

Same starting amount. Same four-year period. A $151,331 difference in ending value.
Following a famous investor does not mean every move they make should become your move. They may sell or reduce exposure for reasons that have nothing to do with your own long-term view. With Q, investors can still believe in crypto over the long term while using a strategy that makes moves through periods of volatility as market conditions change.
Q does not follow the loudest person online or change course because of the latest headline. The selected strategy follows its predefined rules as market conditions change.
Someone else can tell you what they think crypto will do next. Q gives you a systematic way to approach your own decisions.
